About Us

The Regional Medical Center at Memphis, commonly known as THE MED, is an acute-care teaching hospital that serves a six-state region within 150 miles of Memphis, Tennessee. We are proud of what THE MED has stood for through the years – a pioneer in medical breakthroughs as well as a safety net for those who are unable to get quality health care elsewhere.

Known best for our cutting-edge trauma and burn centers, but home to 50 areas of specialty, we focus on providing patient-centric medical care and support in coping with traumatic illnesses, injuries and other high-risk medical conditions. Our most significant areas of specialty are referred to as Centers of Excellence. In addition to our trauma and burn centers, these include: wounds, high-risk obstetrics, neonatal medicine, sickle cell, HIV/AIDs and bariatrics.
