MEDCOM
Medical Communications Center

What Is MEDCOM?

MEDCOM is THE MEDical communications center at The Regional Medical Center at Memphis (THE MED). It is the official telecommunications resource center for the Tennessee Department of Public Health and Emergency Medical Services for western Tennessee. Located in THE MED's level one Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center, MEDCOM provides ground and air ambulance-to-hospital medical communications. In addition to western Tennessee, MEDCOM also coordinates medical communications in northern Mississippi and eastern Arkansas. There are approximately 55 ambulances and 20 hospitals within the region.

Each is a Tennessee-certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least two years field or emergency communications experience. All communicators Emergency Medical Dispatch certified, are FAA approved flight followers (or trackers), and three hold National Association of Air Communications Specialist certifications.
