Reginald Coopwood, MD, president and CEO, Regional Medical Center at Memphis, was elected chairman-elect of the Tennessee Hospital Association's board of directors during the association's recent annual meeting in Nashville. He will become chairman during the 2013 annual meeting.
Dr. Coopwood has served as president and CEO of the Regional Medical Center at Memphis since 2010. Prior to this position, he held the positions of CEO and Chief Medical Officer at a health system in Nashville. He serves on the boards of the National Public Health and Hospital Institute, (NPHHI), Tennessee Hospital Association (THA), BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) and Qsource.
Dr. Coopwood is a member of the executive committee of the National Association of Public Hospitals (NAPH) and the Governing Council of the American Hospital Association’s Metropolitan Hospitals division. He also chairs the THA Council on Diversity and is a member of the American College of HealthCare Executives. In addition, he serves as an advisory board member with the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Task Force on Delivery System Reform and Health Information Technology.
THA, founded in 1938, serves as an advocate for hospitals, health systems, home health agencies and other healthcare organizations and the patients they serve.
