An after-hours event hosted by The MED Foundation’s Young Leadership Council on June 13th helped raise funds for the Campaign for Healthy Newborns. “Good Start, Good Life” was the theme of the event which drew more than 80 people to Alchemy in the Cooper-Young neighborhood. As a subset of The MED Foundation, the YLC targets younger professionals with the goal of generating new interest in Regional Medical Center at Memphis.
“The YLC events are growing and have been a great way to get young professionals interested and engaged in what we do at The MED,” said Tammie Ritchey, Vice President for Development. “It’s important that the community feels they can be involved no matter how much their gifts are -- every little bit counts. For instance, for each ticket purchased at the Summer Soiree, a newborn can have a warm blanket or a set of bottles or a mom can have a box of diapers. It seems so simple but makes a huge difference to new parents who are unprepared due to an early delivery.”
