Patient & Family Support Services

Regional Medical Center at Memphis offers support services to assist both patients and family members as they cope with illness or injury, including pastoral care and language services.

Pastoral Care

Chaplains from our Pastoral Care Department provide much needed support to patients and family members during times of healthcare crises.  The Pastoral Care staff represents varied religious traditions and respect the individual beliefs for the patient and their family.

A chapel is located on the 2nd floor of the Jefferson Tower (above the cafeteria) for visitors and loved ones who would like a quiet place to pray or meditate.  Chapel services are held in this room every Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

Pastoral Care can be reached by calling 901.545.7925 or paging 901.790.9651.

Language and Telephone Services

The hospital has highly trained linguistic aides available to assist with patient care. Our interpreters have specialized training not only in languages, but also in medical terminology and cultural practices. The interpreters study medical techniques and procedures in order to best communicate with patients and help them understand the care received.

Our telephone operators receive, transfer and track calls to their desired destination. Our friendly staff of operators also provide routine patient information (room and phone numbers) and direction and are available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

The operators also handle calls for hearing impaired guests through TDD, telecommunication device for the deaf.
