Inpatient rehabilitation is a rigorous and intense process and patients are expected to fully participate in their individualized rehab plan. Patients are usually involved in therapy seven days a week from early morning to late afternoon. General visiting hours are from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily, but visitors are welcome at other times with special arrangement. We encourage support from family and friends, but set visiting hours are recommended for the benefit of the patient so there is little interference in their therapy schedule.
Visitors are required to register at the Information Desk on the ground floor of the Jefferson Building (hospital Main Entrance) to obtain a visitor's pass. Visitors must check in at the rehab nurse's station before proceeding to the patient's room. Should a patient have more than two visitors, the visit may take place in the dining room or activity room when available.
To promote independence and interaction with other patients and staff, breakfast and lunch meals are served in the dining room. If there is a medical reason, meals can be served in the patient’s room. For patient protection, food brought in must conform to his or her prescribed diet. For that reason, all food must be checked by nursing and in an air-tight container before being given to the patient.
If overnight accommodations are needed, a variety of hotels offer reduced rates for family members of patients. Please call the preferred hotel directly (see below) for rates and availability, and tell them you have a family member in the hospital.
