The College Student Volunteer Program at Regional One Health provides local college students the opportunity to gain invaluable experience in a hospital environment while making an impact on their community.  The students in the College Volunteer Program work in clinical and non-clinical roles available throughout the hospital. The impact made by college student volunteers leaves a positive impression on the staff, visitors and patients.

The program welcomes students from a number of universities and colleges. This program places students in various units to support staff, patients and visitors. Undergraduate and Graduate students are welcome to apply and the volunteer opportunities change from semester to semester. In the past volunteers have been assigned to the following areas: Emergency Department, Pastoral Care, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Print Shop, Radiology, and Trauma.

Commitment

College Student Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of sixty (60) volunteer hours per semester (minimum of three (3) hours per week), with a requested regular schedule each month.

Qualifications

College Student Volunteers must be eighteen years of age, and currently enrolled in a college or university. Volunteers must have good interpersonal skills, exemplify a positive demeanor, are service oriented and support the vision and mission of Regional One Health. As with all volunteer opportunities here at Regional One Health, after all application materials are completed and submitted, each applicant must be interviewed, pass a background check, complete an annual tuberculosis screening and immunization review, attend a Volunteer Orientation and complete departmental orientation to be better acclimated to the assigned area. Orientation for college student volunteers who wish to volunteer during the summer months will be on the first Monday of June each summer.
