Centers of Excellence
Wound Center

The Wound Center is a regional referral center for wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO). The center serves as an outpatient clinic for the treatment of a wide range of acute, chronic and non-healing wounds including:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Failing skin grafts
  • Outpatient burns
  • Traumatic wounds
  • Venous stasis ulcers

The Wound Center accepts referrals from the Divers Alert Network (DAN) for treating sport and commercial diving accident victims in the Mid-South.

The center also provides wound care and HBO services to inpatients within the hospital complex. Located on the ground floor of the Jesse Turner Tower, the center has a waiting room, six exam rooms, and a hyperbaric chamber that accommodates up to twelve patients at a time. The chamber area includes a freestanding operations console for the hyperbaric chamber plus a nursing station.

Intensive, continuous care is provided utilizing a multi-disciplinary team approach. We educate patients and their families regarding the proper techniques for wound and burn care.

Dr. Bill Hickerson is the Director of our Wound Care Services, both inpatient and outpatient, in addition to serving as Director of the Burn Center of Excellence.

Dr. Steven King is the Director of our Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Service.
