Newly designed space in the Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center, made possible through donations to The MED Foundation, was opened in December.
The new Trauma Training and On Call Center provides much needed space for trauma surgeons and residents to rest during the average 30-hour shift. In addition to quiet sleeping quarters, the facility includes bathrooms, showers, a lounge area and conference room equipped with computers and projectors for education use. The conference area also serves as a confidential meeting space when needed for the medical staff to review patient information.
The construction and furniture costs were covered by donations from Helena Health Foundation, Smith & Nephew and Mississippi Friends of The MED.
Donors and guests toured the new Trauma Training and On Call Center at an Open House in December.
